Getting There at Sundarban National Park



By Air
The nearest airport is at Kolkata (131 km). Indian Airlines and several private airlines connect Kolkata with other major cities in India.

By Rail
The nearest railhead is at Kolkata (105 km). Canning is connected to Kolkata, which, in turn, is connected to all major cities in India.

By Water
Sunderban is accessible only through waterways. Motor launch services are available from the embarkation points at Namkhana, Raidighi, Sonakhali and Najat. The approximate time taken to travel between the various points is:

1. From Namkhana: Bhagabatpur Crocodile Project, 2.5 hours; Sagar Island, 2.5 hours; and Jambudwip, 3.5 hours.
2. From Sajnekhali: Sudhanyakhali, 40 minutes; Buridabri (Tiger Project Area), 5 hours; Netidhopari, 3.5 hours; and Holiday Island, 3 hours.
3. From Sonakhali: Gosaba, 1 hour.
4. From Raidighi: Kalas, 5 hours.

By Road
The park is approachable by road from the nearest town of Kolkata. The excellent road network links Kolkata with Namkhana, Raidighi, Sonakhali and Najat. We can arrange for you all types of land transport for your comfortable journey in Sunderban and throughout the Indian state of West Bengal.
