Ken River Lodge Panna



The Ken River Lodge is located in Madla on the banks of Ken River and 2 km from Panna National Park in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

The forest surrounding Ken River Lodge is dry and decidious, and is populated by Teak, Flame of the forest, Tendu, Indian Ebony and Mahua. This scenic countryside is home to numerous species of birds such as the spur fowl, Treepie, Paradise fly catcher, Babblers and Parakeet.

The Ken River with its fresh, clear water, flows through the ravines of the Vendhya range and sustains the varied wildlife of Panna National Park. Spread across 542 sq km, Panna National Park is home to rich variety of animal life which includes Tiger, Panther, Sloth Bear, Sambhar, Cheetal Bluebull, Chowsingha, Magar, Chinkara and the lesser mammals.

  • Air-conditioned trains from New Delhi railway station to Jhansi (Shatabdi Express), 4 hours drive thereafter.

How to reach Ken River Lodge :
Air :
Nearest Airport is Khajuraho ( 27 km).
There are daily flights from Delhi in season by Indian Airlines and Jet Airways.
From the Airport cabs are available for drop
At present there are no direct flights from Mumbai.

Rail :
From Delhi -
Delhi to Jhansi by Bhopal Shatabdi (departure N. Delhi, 6 a.m., arrival Jhansi, 10:25 a.m.)
Further by cab or by Shatabdi bus to Khajuraho.
Get off at Bhamitha( 10 km before Khajuraho).
Free pick up by gypsy arranged on request.
Shatabdi a.c chair car and 1st class chair car.

Habibganj Express
Departs Delhi at 10: 55 p.m. arrives Jhansi at 4;24 a.m.
Further by cab or bus to khajuraho.
The train offers 1A, 2A, 3A and SL classes.
Morning bus service is scarce, so cab though expensive is the best option.

From Mumbai -
Satna(70km) and Jhansi(176km.) are convenient railheads.
Punjab mail, Dadar Barielley Express, Dadar Amritsar Express, Mumbai Howrah mail etc are the few trains which operate on this route.
The latest railway timetable should be referred for more options and fares.

Road :
One could take the road journey through Agra, Gwalior, Jhansi and Datia.
A distance of 635k.m. best avoided in a stretch , but is a memorable drive through lovely country side if given a break at Gwalior, Orcha or Datia.
